Halo 5: Guardians is a first-person shooter game with a storytelling aspect. On one hand, you can choose to play in multiplayer mode. Or you can explore the campaign mode, where you explore and execute missions and view the entire plot of the game. The story follows primarily super soldiers teams, where the leader of the blue team goes AWOL, and the fire team Osiris is sent to track him down. In addition to the features in the previous versions of the Halo series, the game features new Spartan abilities and more mobility options.

- Open-ended mission layouts
- Fluid movements options
- Story dependent on external lore
- Disjointed plot
- Stale characters and scenes
Halo 5: Guardians – Review
The game improves significantly on its predecessors with its updated and polished graphics. Indeed, everything from the textures to the designs feels refurbished and eye-catching. In addition, the game features more abilities and mobility options that overtake previous robotic limited options. Consequently, the gameplay feels less hindered and more enjoyable.
The storytelling in games like Halo is essential to the integrity of the game. Yet the plot in Halo 5 is deeply flawed. For instance, the story is dependent on external lore material. Consequently, you can’t just pick up the game and enjoy the play. Instead, you have to do some homework, which becomes a chore. Also, the plot is disjointed, with static character arcs and cut scenes that leave the information incomplete.
Overall, between the fantastic improvements in the multiplayer mode and the disappointing campaign, the game’s value balances out. Although the technical enhancements also apply to the campaign, it is not enough to save this game mode.
