rFactor 2 – Review

Do you like racing? I mean, are you obsessed with the technical and mechanical details of a racing car? Well, rFactor 2 is perfect for you. In fact, the game provides the option to customize everything. For example, you can adjust the engine, the sensitivity, even your viewpoint. Also, there are lots of cars to choose from the library of playable vehicles. For anyone in love with modifying cars, this game is racing heaven. In addition to the changes you can make, your modified car’s actual driving is a challenge in itself; what you do in your setup can make or break a race, making the game an excellent brain picker for racing enthusiasts.

Pit stop mistakes

On the other hand, rFactor 2 doesn’t have all that much content on its own. The most you can get out of this game is creating and testing setups and racing your modified car on the racing track. Besides, the graphics are very underwhelming, and car damage modeling can be weird for some people. For instance, the car’s metal doesn’t crumple when taking damage. In fact, it either only gets a few scratches or falls off altogether.

Needless to say, rFactor 2 is a great mod racing simulator, but it’s not for everyone. If, on the one hand, you like the customization aspect of such games and don’t care much about the graphics, this one is perfect for you. On the other hand, if you just want to have fun racing and feeling the thrill of a speed chase without worrying about the technical aspects, you might be better off looking at other racing games.

Where to get the game

rFactor 2 is currently available on Steam for Windows users. Note that it’s a pay-to-play game with a one time purchase membership.

How to play rFactor 2

rFactor 2 is, first and foremost, a racing simulation designed for modifications. For instance, you can choose your viewpoint, the most popular two perspectives cockpit (driver’s eye), and swingman (above and behind the vehicle). Besides, you can choose the car you want and tune its mechanics to your liking. You can also use the keyboard to control your racing car, but most players prefer using a computer steering wheel.
