Gears of War 4 – Review
What functions well
Gears of War 4 gave the players welcome changes to the game. For instance, you can play every mode except competitive in split-screen. Also, the developers introduced new weapons and new movements such as snatch, both deadly to your opponent, and dangerous for you. In addition, the new AI enemies are a refreshing incorporation into the gameplay.
Although the game has many things going for it, Gears of War 4 still has some frustrating issues. For example, the rate of earning currency is terrible. Also, the card packs with disappointing rewards are costly. Not to mention that the game gives the option to buy them with real money, which can rub some people the wrong way since it’s already a paid game.
Hit or miss
Overall, Gears of War is a great game. Its flaws can be overlooked if you’re playing casually. In other words, you can ignore the packs, the currency, and play it as is. However, some aspects can be either hit or miss for you. On the one hand, the game ends on a massive cliff hanger. On the other hand, the weather can affect bullet trajectories, which can go in your favor, or work against you.
How to get the game
Gears of War 4 is a pay to play game. But the good news is, you don’t have to pay for it twice. If you get it for Xbox One, you can play it on your Windows computer as well. First, go to Microsoft’s website, hit “Buy,” enter your information, and you’re good to go!
The Game modes
Overall, Gears of War 4 multiplayer features two general categories: Versus mode, and Horde mode. First, there are the core modes in Versus, such as team deathmatch, dodge ball, king of the hill, guardian, and war zone. Second, there are the competitive modes that include escalation and execution. And finally, Horde mode features a new class system, engineer, soldier, sniper heavy and scout, and introduces the fabricator and bounties. Both plays get you credits and experience, but your best bet to gain them fast is horde mode. The more you have currency, the better you are equipped, the more you can deal damage.
